501. Why can't MAJIC sense target power?
Answer: MAJIC monitors the target system's operating voltage via one of the pins on debug connector in order to adjust the voltage level that it drives on the JTAG interface. The best pin for this purpose depends on your target design, so it must be selected via a debugger option: Ice_Power_Sense. If this option is turned off (which is the default), then MAJIC disables its power monitor and target interface.

Normally the Ice_Power_Sense option is set in the startice.cmd startup file. The most common reasons for not sensing target power is if this option is not being set correctly, or the debugger is not finding the right startice.cmd file.

If the Ice_Power_Sense option is set as expected, but the connect LED is red, then the JTAG cable may not be connected correctly, or the selected signal may not be pulled up to the I/O voltage.
